About The Owner

A Legacy of Service and Expertise at AAMCO Transmissions of Marietta

At AAMCO Transmissions of Marietta, the story is built on a foundation of hard work, military discipline, and a lifelong passion for automotive repair. For owner Mark McGregor, the journey began long before he took over the shop on Cobb Parkway SE. It started at Walton High School and the local Cumberland Chevron, where Mark spent his teenage years learning the ropes of the trade.

A Lifelong Passion for the Craft

Mark’s dedication to the industry was sparked by a 1970 Formula Firebird. When his father told him the car was his if he could get it running, a career was born. That early project turned into an over 30-year journey through every level of the automotive world.

During his senior year of high school, Mark was approached by the United States Marine Corps, which guaranteed him a role in the mechanical and electrical field. Following graduation from boot camp, he served as a second echelon mechanic in motor transport. That military experience instilled a level of precision and integrity that remains the backbone of the Marietta shop today.

Mastering the Trade

Mark’s expertise isn't just based on years behind a wrench; it’s backed by rigorous training. After his military enlistment, he worked for some of the largest transmission parts suppliers and repair facilities in Atlanta, including Clutch Express. Over the years, he earned multiple ASE certifications and reached the level of Master Rebuilder through AAMCO University.

In 2002, Mark joined the AAMCO Marietta team as a technician. He worked his way up to Manager before purchasing the location in 2014. AAMCO Marietta is proud to be a family-owned and operated business that has served the Cobb County community since 1977. Today, that family tradition continues with Mark’s son, who serves as a technician and recently completed rebuilder school at AAMCO University.

Building Trust Through Transparency

AAMCO knows that a major repair can be stressful. The shop’s goal is to make the process as easy and transparent as possible. Building trust with Marietta neighbors by utilizing digital vehicle inspections. The specialists deliver a full report—complete with pictures—directly to your email, so you see exactly what they see. AAMCO provides clear pricing upfront and sticks to those numbers, ensuring there are no surprises when you pick up your keys.

Helping customers through complex repairs is AAMCO speciality, and the goal is to save you thousands of dollars, turning a stressful situation into a moment of genuine relief and gratitude.

Rooted in the Cobb County Community

Except for his time in the Marine Corps, Mark has spent his entire life right here in Cobb County. When he isn’t at the shop, you can still find him working on cars, restoring older vehicles in his spare time. He is also a proud member of the American Legion and serves as an NRA-certified firearms instructor for the Boy Scouts.

At AAMCO Transmission of Marietta, you aren't just a customer; you're a neighbor. AAMCO Marietta looks forward to providing you with the honest, expert service you deserve.
